GeoFighters- App Review

Video Review

First Impressions

  • The game looks very professional, from the icon to the game interface
  • I couldn't believe it's free!
  • The game controls were very easy to pick up

Gameplay
  • There are two game modes: Waves and Survival
  • In Waves, you take on multiple waves of enemies, and each progression brings more enemies than the last.
  • Survival is just a constant nonstop hurl of enemies and you must try to survive through it all.
  • You are presented with two virtual joysticks
  • The left one controls your ships movement
  • The right one controls the aiming of where you will be shooting
  • The fire button is implemented into the aiming, meaning you don't have to worry about having to push three buttons with your thumbs
  • As a comparison, this game controls very similarly to Dropship, which is also free! :)

Final Thoughts
  • Go grab this game while it's free, it won't be forever
  • It's a great game, easy to control, great replay value

iPod Touch 3G Antiglare Screen Protector Review

For the video review click here: YouTube

This product is labeled as an iPod Touch 2G screen protector, but it works great with the 3G.

What you get in the box:
  • Antiglare screen protector
  • Cleaning cloth
First impressions:
  • The grammar on the package is terrible, but what else can you expect for 2.00$
  • The cloth included isn't exactly a microfiber cloth, but it works great
  • The feel of the "frosted" coating is much smoother than the crystal films
Final thoughts:
  • For 2.00$, you can't go wrong (Ebay)
  • It's the same exact protector you would buy at an Apple store for 15$, but it's only 2$!
  • The screen protector was cut perfectly to size
  • Application is a bit tricky, all it takes is some technique (see the video for a quick how-to)
Where to buy and how much?

I bought this screen protector on Ebay for a little less than 2.00 USD. It's a great deal and if your interested in buying from an Ebay retailer, I suggest just searching "iPod Touch screen protector", or you could buy from the retailer I bought from here: Ebay

iPod Touch 3g Review

Video Portion: YouTube

First impressions:
  • -visually identical to 2g iPod Touch
  • -comes with earbuds with built-in microphone and controls
  • -large speed increase
  • -flawless voice control
  • -new accessibility features that include voice-over, inversion of colors, and zoom features
  • -no volume increase in speaker
  • -no built in camera or microphone :(
  • The new 3g iPod Touch's most amazing feature, in my opinion, is the voice control. I've never encountered anything that works so seamlessly. I've never once had to repeat myself while using voice control.
  • Another fantastic feature is the speed increase. It is at least 50% faster. For more information on speed watch this video: YouTube
Accessibility Features

  • The accessibility features are okay, at best. Zoom seems pointless, unless you have really bad eyes.
  • The inversion of colors is neat looking, but not helpful.
  • Never under any circumstance use voice-over; it is practically impossible to turn off and extremely annoying!
-Notes from shortperson1026:

  • Zoom is great for people who have trouble reading small text.
  • Inversion of colors is awesome for people who are color blind.
  • Voiceover is indeed very annoying, but when you have trouble reading menus, it's great to be able to have text read to you.
Side Notes
  • There is no built in video camera or microphone
  • While this marketing decision made by Apple may be disappointing to some, it cut down on the price
  • On top of adding to the price, the addition of a camera may have made the iPod Touch thicker

Final Thoughts
  • While the speed increase is fantastic, don't upgrade solely on that note.
  • If you are finding that 8GB just isn't enough, then you should definitely upgrade to the 32GB.
  • Gamers will definitely want to upgrade for the speed increase.

The review video for the 3g iPod Touch can be found at: YouTube

Speed Test: 1g vs. 3g iPod Touch

It's difficult to notice the speed increase of the iPod Touch 3G while performing basic tasks such as watching videos, listening to music, or viewing pictures. It's when you start performing tasks such as browsing the web, using the app store, or playing games that you really begin to notice the speed of the new CPU.

After performing multiple tests, I have determined that the 3g is at least the stated 50% faster, maybe even more, than the iPod Touch 1G.

Phillips iPod Touch Headset Adapter Review

Hey there! Today I decided on doing a quick review on a very neat product I picked up at my local Target store. For 10$, you get a headset adapter with music control and a high quality microphone.

For the video review click here: YouTube

The product is intended for iPhone use, but I found it works great on the iPod Touch!

What you get in the box:
  • iPhone Headset Adapter

First impressions:
  • The part containing the mic and button is a little bulky in my opinion
  • It has a clip, which is great
  • It has a headphone jack allowing you to transform any set of headphones into a headset
  • The connector piece is slightly long

Final thoughts:
  • If you are sick of the iPod headphones, I highly recommend this
  • Using your own headphones is a plus
  • You can use it without headphones, which is another great aspect
Where to buy and how much?
You can buy this product at most electronic stores for 9.99$ USD.

iPod Touch 3G Unboxing/Review

Yesterday in the mail I finally received my iPod Touch 3G 32GB!

Now I did make the video yesterday, but youtube was having some server issues, so I couldn't get it up until today.

But the video is here if you want to watch! (please comment, rate, subscribe)

Take me to YouTube

What you get in the box

  • iPod Touch
  • User guide
  • USB data/charging cable
  • Headphones with headset
  • Dock adapter

This time around there wasn't a screen cleaning cloth included.

Quick Review and other thoughts

  • The iPod Touch 3G isn't that much different than the 2G.
  • If you have disabilities, go with this iPod Touch. (It has special features for disabled people)
  • If you own a 2G iPod Touch, just keep it unless you need more memory.
  • If you have a 1G iPod Touch, definitely upgrade to the 3G.
  • There is NO LAG whatsoever on this iPod Touch

Greenp0ison get's its first demo!

Chronic dev has just released a video showing a demo of what their new Greenp0ison tool is capable of on an iPod Touch 3G. We don't have an iPod Touch 3G jailbreak yet, but each step is one step closer.

iPod Touch 3G and iPod Nano 5G Hands On

Today, I bring you sad news and great news!

Sad: My iPod Touch got delayed in the mail. :(

Great news: At my local Apple Retail Store, the new iPods are available! So I went down there to check them out myself.

iPod Touch 3G

The first thing I noticed when using the 3G is there is NO lag. None whatsoever. It's very very nice to have. Second thing I noticed is how quick games loaded, especially graphic-extensive games like Sims 3. I tried out the accessibility features like voiceover and screen zoom and they both work wonderfully, just like on the iPhone 3GS. I didn't get to try out the Voice Command feature as it was too loud in the store, but overall the experience was fantastic!

iPod Nano 5G

The iPod Nano 5G looks way nicer than before. While it still has it's aluminum finish, it's much more polished, meaning a shinier iPod! :) The video camera placement still slightly makes me cringe, as my hand just kept getting in the way of the lens. (I have small hands) I didn't get to try out the Radio or Genius Mix feature as 1: No headphones were plugged in (The headphones serve as an antennae) and 2: Apple didn't sync any genius mixes to the iPod. If you loved the iPod nano before, you'll love it even more now.

Stay tuned for a video of these features on my youtube page.

Seems an iPod Touch 3G Jailbreak will come sooner than expected!

The widely known development team, Chronic Dev, appears to be working on what they call "Greenp0ison". The name goes along with the lineup of previous programs created to jailbreak iPods and iPhones, redsn0w and purplera1n. Over at http://www.iPodtouchfans.com , King Chronic claims that they have discovered a new exploit, or hole in the system, that allows them to jailbreak the device without having to put the device into DFU mode. The exploit apparently works on firmware 3.1.1 (The newest) and the dev team is hoping for the exploit to be present in the iPod Touch 3G.

On the other hand, smaller developers are taking their own hand at creating a 3G iPod Touch jailbreak, such as Bikcmp (Who previously worked on redsn0w). Any new information on the iPod Touch 3G jailbreak will be posted here so keep your eyes open!
